While many TSNS families take advantage of D.C. and Montgomery County Public School options, we offer comprehensive guidance to those families exploring admission to area independent schools. Through meetings with teachers, the school director, and other faculty members who know each child well, parents are supported as they proceed through the application process, receiving guidance toward creating an initial school list based on their child’s unique strengths, interests, and learning style, as well as the geographic, pedagogical, religious, and other factors that families may be weighing.
School recommendations in support of each child’s application are developed with great care and attention by the faculty in collaboration with the Director, creating thoughtfully crafted written reports that capture the whole child. Often we are in contact with independent school admissions team members and directors to share additional information about a child or discuss special circumstances.
Once decisions are released, we help guide families in making their final choice, navigating waitlists, and communicating with children about the upcoming transition to a new school. We are proud that nearly all of our families receive admission to their first and/or second choice school.
