In 1991, Temple Sinai charged a committee with establishing an early childhood program steeped in Jewish values and rooted in child development. A year later, Temple Sinai Nursery School (TSNS), led by founder Perri Iger-Silversmith, opened its doors to 35 children. This group was known as Halutzim (Pioneers). Several years later, the school was accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and has continued to renew its commitment to quality practices informed by evidence, research, and professional judgment. As the TSNS community has grown over the decades, its commitment to children and their families has remained steadfast.
